The Mystery Of The Disappearing Post!

This post was somehow lost/deleted (?) It is an older one but belongs here as it was part of my Ponderings one long lonely night. Therefore I am replacing it.

Well, its here, the not so bewitching hour of midnight when darkness presses so tightly against my house. The day started off pouring rain, dark and grey skies, late this afternoon the sun came out for a while but the storm only waited at a distance and moved back in. I hear the rain drumming on the house top and the wind in the trees and whistling around the eves. I love that sound.
I wonder about other people. Are they snuggled down under their warm comforters, some alone or some spooned together dreaming separate dreams? Will they tell each other about their dreams in the morning? Who and how many, at this minute are sneaking up to raid the refrigerator? To drink cold milk with their goodies or get water?
And how many are sitting alone looking at their pc screens or the television instead of sleeping? Do they push the curtains back and watch the rain, the sleet, the snow, just whatever is falling in their area? Do they feel the aloneness or are they content?
When morning comes the mothers get up, make breakfast, get the children off to school, themselves ready for work or if they are fortunate enough to be stay at home moms they may even grab another short snooze before starting house work, cooking, laundry...grocery shopping, taking care of the smaller ones not yet school age...or maybe they rush to get dressed and get themselves off to work.
Their husbands will also get ready for the day, eat his breakfast and disappear into the early morning to his job. Their lives change by degrees as they grow older and the children grow up, so subtle it happens unnoticed.
But what about tonight? Am I the only one awake with these same thoughts playing around in their minds under their silver hair?
